Meetings on federal
courthouse plans set for this week
07/11/2005
Eric Wellman
(Harrisburg) -- The federal government is pushing forward in its effort to
find a location for a new courthouse in Harrisburg. The government has
whittled down to three, the number of locations its considering for a new
federal courthouse. They include the intersection of Verbeke and North 6th
Street, Herr and Capital Streets, and Third Street across from the Capitol.
This Thursday planning officials want to know what folks think of the
proposals. Neighbors who hope to learn more can attend one of three
meetings, where they'll have a chance to get their questions answered.
Session one starts at 8:30 a.m. in the Hamilton School gymnasium. The others
are slated for the Hilton Harrisburg and Towers beginning at 1:00 p.m. and
6:00 p.m., respectively. The current federal courthouse on Walnut Street no
longer meets the government's security requirements. |
